As I passionately continue my learning and evolution with teachers who inspire me I see an affirmation happening. In my own experience on the healing journey with an Ayurvedic foundation I know that in our current times detoxification is actually prioritized over nourishment. That’s not to say that nourishment isn’t important, rather, one must unclog the sink before anything good can go down! This has absolutely been my experience and the different teachers I learn from all affirm this over and over. In the physical, dense body, the channels of elimination must be open and flowing to experience health. Even those of us who live a healthy lifestyle can be overburdened by environmental toxins (ama) beyond our control. The toxic load in the past 100 years is greater than anytime in history! So many souls are suffering ill health on a daily basis and feel powerless and confused on what to do! I too felt confused but not completely powerless. I intuitively chose to focus on detoxification to heal an ugly, inflammatory condition in my body following a period of acute and chronic stress. The container of my body could hold no more. The practitioners I worked with were at a loss so I had to pioneer my own healing. The magnificent healing system of Ayurveda provided a foundation from which to work. I knew there was an overflow of dosha (imbalance) and my body was stretched beyond it’s ability to keep up. I focused on clearing channels daily – near infared saunas, emenas, organic foods, cleanses, hiking in nature and as much sleep as my body needed. I knew too well how much more damaging it would be if I didn’t address detoxing immediately. When heavy metals (which most of us have too much of) are pulled out improperly they are most unkind to our health. If they are uprooted improperly, they tend to go to the brain and create very damaging effects. Interestingly, my first job after college was at Neiman Marcus; I was an assistant buyer for the millinery department and learned the term “mad hatters”. This was sad but very real in the industry of felt hat making where mercury was used abundantly. The workers would literally go “mad” after working in these factories for only a few years. Parasites thrive in a body that has a metal overload as well as bad bacteria and viruses. I had it all! Thank goodness we understand the dangers of these harmful imbalances and we now know so much how to remove them safely. And, I’ve learned there are many, many unsafe ways being used to deal with these toxic overloads. Sources and processes really matter! Don’t assume all docs and practitioners know the safest way. At least the practices I mentioned above are universally safe in keeping those nasty toxins from doing more damage by ushering them out daily. There are many more tools to use to support your body more assertively on successfully ridding itself of these harmful energies which I have tried myself. I love to teach and coach others so they too experience the power of improving their life by taking responsibility for their health! I offer classes, both locally and online as well as private coaching using Ayurveda (for modern ailments), Meditation, Aromatherapy and super herbs/foods to guide people in creating health in their magnificent beings by investing in themselves and taking responsibility for their healing! This IS empowering!
